YSR greets people on Janmashtami

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the eve of Janmashtami.

In his message, Dr Reddy said the birth of Lord Krishna stood as symbol of universal love, selfless service and spiritual maturity in the mainstream of life.

''The eternal values preached by Lord Krishna in ''Bhagavad Gita'' are very much significant and relevant to every generation since the times immemorial,'' he added.

Dr Reddy hoped the festival would strengthen the bonds of love and mutual understanding among the people and bring new cheer and prosperity in their lives.

Former champion Kuznetsova eases into quarter-finals

NEW YORK, Sept 3 (Reuters) Former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova booked a quarter-final berth at the US Open today after beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-2 6-3. It was an efficient 74-minute performance from the fourth-seeded Russian, champion in 2004, who set up a meeting with Hungarian Agnes Szavay or Julia Vakulenko of Ukraine. The 18-year-old Azarenka, who beat another former champion, Martina Hingis, in the previous round, looked overawed as Kuznetsova cruised through the first set. Azarenka then lifted her game.....

Woman run over by Blueline bus, dies

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Killer Blueline buses today claimed another victim when a woman was run over by a bus in South Delhi. Meena (35) was run over by Blueline bus operating on route no 588 between Tilak Nagar and Nehru Place, while she was getting down from the bus at Motibagh at around 1000 hours, police said. Meena died on the spot. The driver, however, fled with the bus, police said. UNI.....

Iranian leader accuses Bush of hate campaign

TEHRAN, Sept 3 (Reuters) Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused US President George W Bush of trying to whip up hate against Tehran when he said last week the country had put the region ''under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust''. The West suspects Iran has a secret programme to build nuclear weapons.
