Valla Sayda performed at Aranmula Parthasarathy temple

Pathanamthitta, Sep 3 (UNI) The Ashtamirohini Valla Sadya, an annual ritualistic mass feast, jointly organised by Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) and Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) was held at Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple today with traditional gaiety and devotional fervour.

TDB President C K Guptan inaugurated the 'Sadya' by lighting a ceremonial lamp in front of the temple flag-mast following 'Uchapooja.' It was estimated that around 35,000 devotees partook of the sumptuous feast. The highlight of the feast was serving of 45 side dishes including Ambalapuzha Palppayasam.

Local MLA K C Rajagopal and Devaswom Commissioner Sachithanandan also attended the feast.

Crew of 39 snake-boats that took part in the recent 'Utharattathy Vallam Kali' was accorded a warm reception at the temple gate before the commencement of the 'Sadya.' Sources said 3,500 kg of rice was cooked. Prior to the feast, a colourful pageantry of 39 'Palliyodams' was held.

Centre to spend Rs 50,000 Cr for road connectivity in NE

Kolkata, Sep 3 (UNI) The Centre will spend Rs 50,000 crore in the next five years for road connectivity in the North Eastern region, Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyer today said. Speaking at a conference of exporters belonging to the Shellac and Forest Products Export Promotion Council and Calcutta Chamber of Commerce in the city, Mr Aiyer said it was essential to develop road links in the region for its allround.....

Malda, Sep 3 (UNI) A man was arrested from a hotel in the town and an AK 56 rifle seized today. Police Superintendent Dilip Mondal said the arrested youth, belonging to Malda district under Bamangola Police Station in Pakuahat village, most probably had links with a militant organisation. ''But, we do not know exactly which. Interrogation is on.'' Incidentally majority of youths in Pakuahat are either associated with the Kamptapur Liberation Organisation or Maoists. Mr Mondal said in the last two.....

IPCL gets High Court's nod to amalgamate with RIL

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (IPCL) today said the Gujarat High Court has approved the scheme of amalgamation of the company with Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL). The said order was made available on the website of Gujarat High Court yesterday, company said in a statement. However, certified copy of this order is yet to be received by the company. Earlier, the High Court of Judicature at Bombay has also approved the scheme vide order dated.....
