UPA government not providing enough rice to Karnataka: CM

Mysore, Sep 3 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today alleged that the UPA government was not providing the state with enough supply of rice to be distributed to people in below poverty line.

Speaking at Hunsur near here, he said the state was facing severe shortage of rice meant to be supplied in public distribution system and this was because of the attitude of the Centre which was not providing the state enough stocks.

"We told them that we are ready to pay more for additional supply of rice. But they are not heeding to our requests," he complained.

Mr Kumraswamy also expressed confidence that the JD(S)-BJP coalition government would completed its full term and there was no doubt in it and it would also fulfill all the promises made by the government.

Deputy chief Minister B S Y Yediyurappa said that the government had taken up developmental works in each of 224 assembly segments in the state.

Denying the allegations that his party (BJP) was against the minorities in the state, he said Rs 150 crore had been earmarked for the minorities cell in the budget and another Rs 4100 crore for the scheduled castes and tribes, he added.

Crocodile found dead in Junagadh

Junagadh, Sep 3 (UNI) A carcass of a dead crocodile was recovered from a river in village Chiklikula of Una tehsil, about 180 km from here. The carcass of 12 feet long crocodile was found yesterday. The crocodile was in the age group of 10 to 12 years, forest department sources said, adding, it has been sent for post-mortem. Presently, there are about 15 crocodiles in the river, sources stated. CM ask RTC to increase buses for MMTS connectivity

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the APSRTC to increase bus connectivity at all MMTS Stations as needed even if it was not found profitable in the initial days. The Chief Minister also asked the South Central Railway to start issuing combined tickets for MMTS and city buses within 15 days. The combined ticket, in all probability, would cost Rs 400 only with the SCR and RTC sharing the cost equally. It.....

NWKSRTC planning ex-gratia for employees

Sirsi, Karnataka, Sep 3 (UNI) North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) President Ashok Katwe today said the state government is contemplating ex-gratia for its 24,000 employees. Talking to reporters here, Mr Katwe said the government had already implemented the V Pay Commission recommendations casting an extra burden of Rs 18 crore on the exchequer. He said NWKSRTC was running under loss when he took charge as the President 200 days ago. Now it had made a profit of Rs.....
