Two IAS officers transferred in HP

Shimla, Sep 3 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government today ordered the transfer of two IAS officers in the state with immediate effect, official sources said.

HPMC's Managing Director Ashwani Kumar Kapoor, who is also holding the additional charge of the post of Managing Director of the HP Agro Packaging India, has been posted as Kangra Deputy Commissioner in place of Bharat Harbans Lal Khera, the sources said.

The sources said Mr Khera has been appointed HPMC's MD and would also hold the additional charge of the post of HP Agro Packaging India's MD.

Steps to check copying in School Board semester exams

Chandigarh, Sept 3 (UNI) The Haryana Board of School has made elaborate arrangements to check copying and other malpractices during the Semester Examinations commencing from September 5. While giving this information, an official spokeperson said that Section 144 CrPC had been promulgated by the respective District Magistrates to check outside interference. She said that 1809 centre superintendents and 16,000 supervisors had been deputed on duty. For effective checking of centres, 404 flying squads had been formed, which include 172 squads.....

Fatehabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Apparently taking a cue from the popular suicide bid of Dharmendra in the Bollywood blockbuster Sholay, a sozzled man climbed atop 130-feet-high mobile tower at village Pilimandori in this district early today. It took combined efforts of the police, fire brigade and BSNL officials the whole day to convince Nathu Ram, the 50-year-old village chowkidar, to climb down. According to villagers, Nathu, who had consumed liquor, had a tiff with his wife and stomped off.....

Rs 1795.80 cr spent in Vidarbha from PM's package

Mumbai, Sept 3 (UNI) An amount of Rs 1795.80 cr had so far been spent so far in the six districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra from the Prime Minister's special rehabilitation package, announced last year for the uplift of the farmers. The Prime Minister had sanctioned Rs 3750 cr for farmers in Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana, Washim and Wardha, which was to be implemented in three years starting from 2006. Three more members of an inter-state gang arrested

Karkala, Karnataka, Sep 3 (UNI) Three more members of an inter-State gang involved various crimes in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were arrested today. Police had arrested six members of the same gang on August 23.
