Tata Motors' sale declines 0.4% in August

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Tata Motors has registered a 0.4 per cent decline in its total sale at 45,144 vehicles including exports in August, compared to 45,325 vehicles over the same period last year.

The company's commercial vehicles sales in the domestic market rose 1.6 per cent to 23,431 units from 23,069 units a year earlier, while sales of cars and utility vehicles fell 5 per cent to 16,620 units.

Exports in August rose eight per cent to 5,093 vehicles from 4,715.

Its cumulative sales at 2,14,603 units reported a marginal decline of 0.8 per cent, company said in a statment.

The domestic market continues to be sluggish, due to the high interest rate regime, continuing to affect retails.

M&HCV sales stood at 11,625 units, a decline of 13.6 per cent over August 2006, while LCV sales were 11,806 nos, a growth of 23 per cent over August 2006.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 1,05,835 units, a decline of 1.8 per cent over last year.

Cumulative M&HCV sales stood at 54,647 units, a decline of 12 per cent over last year, while LCV sales for the fiscal were 51,188 units, an increase of 12.4 per cent over last year.

Shinde to lay foundation stone for 1000 MW power project

Chennai, Sep 3 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde will lay the foundation stone for Vallur Thermal Power Project on September five in North Chennai Thermal Power Project Township in Ponneri Taluk in the presence of State Elecricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy. According to an official release here today, the 1000 MW project, costing an estimated Rs 5,400 crore, would supply 750 MW to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and the remaining to Kerala, Karnataka and Puducherry. NWKSRTC planning to give ex-gratia to its employees

Sirsi, Sep 3 (UNI) North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) President Ashok Katwe today said that the state government is contemplating of giving ex-gratia to its 24,000 employees very shortly.
