Rohtak Commissioner to probe post-Gohana violence

Chandigarh, Sept 3 (UNI) Haryana Government has appointed Commissioner Rohtak Division, J.P. Kaushik as Inquiry Officer, to probe the circumstances and events subsequent to the killing of Rakesh alias Lara in Gohana of district Sonipat on August 27.

An official spokesman said that Inquiry Officer would hold a probe regarding this case at Irrigation Rest House, Gohana on September 10.

The persons concerned who were present at the time of incident, could produce information and facts before the Inquiry Officer on the above mentioned date, time and place, he said.

Any person wanting to give information regarding the case would have to produce an affidavit along with verbal statement before the Inquiry Officer, he added.

Fleeing lorry fatally knocks down chasing Policeman

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) A police Sub-Inspector (SI) was run over and killed by a lorry when he tried to stop it at Nampally area early today. Police said Saroonagar Assistance Commissioner of Police asked Malakpet Sub-Inspector I Madhava Reddy to apprehend the lorry. The latter got into his jeep and chased the lorry. Secretary, UP Board of High Schools, guilty of contempt: SC

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) The Supreme Court has found the Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Board of High Schools and Intermediate Education, and a school teacher guilty of contempt of court and imposed a fine of Rs 2000 each on the two contemnors. A bench comprising Justices S B Sinha and Harjit Singh Bedi, in the judgment dated August 30, noted, ''We are of the opinion that contemnor respondent no. 2( read secretary of the UP High School Board) must have issued.....
