NWKSRTC planning to give ex-gratia to its employees

Sirsi, Sep 3 (UNI) North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) President Ashok Katwe today said that the state government is contemplating of giving ex-gratia to its 24,000 employees very shortly.

Talking to reporters here today that the government has already implemented the 5th Pay Commission to the employees and by this there is an extra burden of Rs 18 crore on the government exchequer.

He said that NWKSRTC was running under a loss when took charge as the President 200 day ago and now it has gained a profit of Rs 12.67 crore upto March, 2007.

Form March onwards to till today the Corporation has registered a profit of Rs 10.67 crore, he said.

To a question Mr Katwe said that the Corporation had signed an MoU with Karnataka State Industries Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) to upgrade selected Bus stands within the purview of his limits.

For this purposes Hubli, Belgaum, and Haveri have been chosen, he said.

Mr Katwe said that he had taken up development works worth of Rs 1.52 crore in Uttara Kannada district for upgradation, renovation and repair purposes.

As per Nanjundappa report the government has granted Rs 35 crore for the first time to NWKSRTC and in this regard the government has already released Rs 10 crore, he said.

Man tries to commit suicide inside CPI(M) headquarters

Kolkata, Sep 3(UNI) A man tried to commit suicide by immolating himself inside the CPI(M) state committee headquarters here today, creating a flutter in the political circle. Debabrata Choudhury, 42, who made his entry inside the CPI(M) office feigning as a party member and the brother of an MLA, doused himself with kerosene in a bathroom. But when he came out and tried to light up a match stick, security men immediately caught him. Police said the man, hailing from Baruipur.....

Warrant to attach former MLA's property

Chhapra, Sep 3(UNI) A local court today issued a warrant to attach property of former MLA from Masrakh, Tarkeshwar Singh in connection with kidnapping and subsequent killing during Lok Sabha elections held in 1999. Judicial Magistrate B B Tripathi issued the warrant after Mr Singh failed to appear before the court in connection with the case despite proclamation notice issued against him earler. According to the charges, Mr Singh was involved in kidnapping and subsequent killing of one Balister Singh alias.....

Police seize huge explosives;Three arrested

Rayagada, Sep 03 (UNI) Rayagada police today arrested three persons and forwarded them to the court after huge cache of explosives were recovered from their possession during a raid yesterday. Police said during a raid at a godwan in Ambatola village huge explosives containing 3017 detonators, 21 gelatin, 125 pack ammonium nitrate and 107 bundle of codex wire were seized. Two persons identified as Ipli Chitababa and Ipli Satya were arrested and later forwarded to the court. Similarly in another raid.....
