NTPC enters into an MoU with SAIL, RINL, CIL & NMDC

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Thermal power major NTPC today said it has signed an agreement with Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL),Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), Coal India Ltd (CIL) and National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC) to form a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for securing thermal coal from outside the country.

Under this SPV, the parties will cooperate to create project and/or country specific joint venture company which may also involve equity participation.

Rain-related casualties in Raj rise to 59: snow in Kinnaur

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Four people were killed in rain-related incidents in Rajasthan in the past 24 hours taking the toll in the state this monsoon to 59 as intense cold prevailed in the tribal district of Kinnuar in Himachal Pradesh after mild intermittent snow in the higher altitude areas. Rains lash many areas in northwest region

Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) Moderate rain lashed isolated places in Punjab and Haryana and many areas in Himachal Pradesh since last night, providing respite from hot and humid weather conditions in the region. Light to moderate rain pounded parts of Punjab with Balachour recording 7.2 mm rainfall overnight. The holy city of Amritsar and Ludhiana were also lashed by downpour.
