Meghalayam's gives tumultuous reception to Paul

Shillong, Sep 3 (UNI) Amit Paul, one of the three finalists of 'Indian Idol' competition was given a tumultuous reception by thousands of Meghalayans on his arrival here.

Thousands of people from all stream of life gathered at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex and Mawlai Madan Heh area in their attempt to embrace the swanky singer.

Vehicles on the main thoroughfares of the city were put on halt as there was not even an inch of empty space on the pavement were waiting for Paul to pass-by.

The Meghalaya government even decided to confer him the honorary title of Meghalaya's brand ambassador for 'peace, communal harmony and excellence'.

Tata Motors' sale declines 0.4% in August

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Tata Motors has registered a 0.4 per cent decline in its total sale at 45,144 vehicles including exports in August, compared to 45,325 vehicles over the same period last year. The company's commercial vehicles sales in the domestic market rose 1.6 per cent to 23,431 units from 23,069 units a year earlier, while sales of cars and utility vehicles fell 5 per cent to 16,620 units. Exports in August rose eight per cent to 5,093 vehicles.....

Peeved over non-promotion, Maj Gen stages protest at Army HQs

Extension service subsidy Rs 196 per hectare: Official

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Principal Agriculture Secretary Ajeya Kallam today said the government was spending Rs 1,000 a hectare for fertiliser subsidy while for the extension services it was only Rs 196 per hectare. Inaugurating a workshop on soil health and customised fertilisers organised by the Fertiliser Association of India, here, Mr Kallam said the government would support customised fertilisers if results were good.
