Lt Governor directs stringent action against power theft

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Taking cognizance of the power thefts in domestic as well as industrial premises in certain localities of the capital, Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today directed the authorities concerned to take stringent action against such thefts.

'' All individuals indulging in such an illegal activity are hereby warned to refrain from carrying out theft of power, failing which they will be subjected to stringent punishment as per the new electricity act of 2003 (amended in 2007), ''a spokesperson of the LG office said.

All individuals/industries engaged in nefarious activity of power theft would not only be penalized but would land up behind the bars the spokesperson added.

Bittu arrested for breach of peace in Punjab

Ludhiana, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab Police today arrested expelled Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) vice president Daljit Singh Bittu and three others while they were proceeding to a nearby village to attend a religious function. According to the police, Bittu was taken into preventive custody under sections 151 and 107 of the IPC while going to Talwandi Bhai village. Bittu had recently been released in a sedition case. Bittu along with others was later remanded in judicial custody till September 7.....

Court rejects anticipatory bail of Adnan's kidnapper

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) City Civil and Sessions Court Principal Judge Ashok Bhangale today rejected the anticipatory bail application of Amit Phoolchand Chaushal in the abduction and murder case of teenager Adnan Patrawala. Judge Bhangale upheld the submission of Additional Public Prosecutor R V Kini that applicant was allegedly involved in conspiracy of abduction and murder of Adnan and had supplied the tablets, which were mixed in Adnan's alcohol by the other accused persons. Autorickshaw strike deferred till September 30

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) The proposed strike called by autorickshaw drivers union against installation of electronic meters and printers in the rickshaws was today deferred till September 30, after an assurance by Maharashtra Minister for Environment Dharmarao Baba Atram. The strike was scheduled for September 5 and 6 across the state. Speaking at a news conference here, Union leader Sharad Rao said ''The Minister assured us that a decision will be taken on the issue after consultation with the Chief.....
