Louis Vuitton appoints Ravi Thakran as Group President

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, the world's leading luxury goods company, today said it has appointed Ravi Thakran as Group President for South Asia, South East Asia and West Asia.

Ravi Thakran will also be Director for Group Arnault and L Capital in the region, said a statement.

In addition to his group-wide responsibilities, Ravi Thakran will also conduct operational missions to drive Sephora's development in the region as President of Sephora, South and South East Asia.

Ravi Thakran is a graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He started his career in India and subsequently, held a variety of business and marketing positions, including roles for the Tata, Swatch and Nike groups in Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

CPI(M) undertakes 'Padayatra' in backward old city

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) The CPI (M) today undertook a 'Padayatra' in the backward old Hyderabad city to study the problems of the people living there. Participating in the march along with MP Madhu, the party's state unit secretary and politbureau member B V Raghavulu alleged that the callous attitude of the Congress government was responsible for the backwardness of the area. Welfare Board for Handicapped people: Minister

Puducherry, Sep 3 (UNI) A Welfare Board would soon be set up for the benefit of Handicapped people in the Union Territory, Welfare Minister M Kandasamy said here today. Distributing benefits of various welfare schemes to the physically challenged and visually challenged people and also to various artists belonging to poor families at a function here, he said three per cent reservation quota in employment for the physically challenged would be implemented in all government departments, professional colleges and private industries.....

Left parties to protest nuke deal, joint naval exercises

Bangalore, Sep 3 (UNI) The Left parties will launch a week-long stir in Karnataka as part of their nationwide protest against the Indo-US nuclear agreement and the joint naval exercises with the US tomorrow. Talking to newspersons here, CPM State Secretary G N Nagaraj said the nuclear deal with the US would bind the people to follow the 'diktats' of the US and adversely affect the armed forces, agriculture, industry, education and judiciary.
