Hyundai Motor August sales registers 7.7% growth

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer registered a steady increase of 7.7 per cent in its total number of sales to 28,394 cars, domestic and exports combined, in the month of August, 2007 as compared to 26,374 sold in the same period last year.

The domestic sales in August 2007 accounted for 16,138 units while 12,256 units were exported, said a statement.

Exports rose by 19.3 per cent from 10,273 units last year to 12,256 units in August 2007.

Commenting on the sales, Arvind Saxena, Vice-President - Marketing and Sales said ''Hyundai Motor has been able to register steady growth in August as the industry sets up after the slowdown.'' With the festive season round the corner, we expect sales to grow across segments in the coming months, he added.

HMIL is investing to expand capacity in line with its positioning as a global export hub for compact cars. Apart from expansion of production capacity, HMIL plans to expand its dealer network, which will be increased from 183 to 250 this year.

Tourists from 5 ASEAN countries on trip to Bihar

Patna, Sep 3 (UNI) A tourist delegation of 125 members from five ASEAN countries--Combodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Mynmar--will arrive here on September 5 to boost religious tourism in Buddhist nations. According to an official release the trip was finalised in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs. The delegation will visit all tourist spots of Buddhist circuit including Patna, Vaishali and Gaya districts in Bihar. The delegation will consist of ministers, high profile officers, VIPs and people from media.....

VB University officials scotch rumour of VC's resignation

Santiniketan, Sep 3 (UNI) Viswa Bharati University officials today denied the rumour that Vice-Chancellor Rajat Kanta Ray had tendered his resignation following the CBI's failure to find the noble medal won by Rabindranath Tagore. Earlier, a strong rumour did the rounds that the Vice-Chancellor had given a resignation note in the form of a press release which did not have his signature. However, University PRO Amitabha Chowdhury told UNI that it was a only a rumour and he had not.....

Five killed, 10 injured as bus falls into gorge

Hazaribagh, Sep 3 (UNI) Five people were killed and ten injured when a passenger bus fell into a twenty-feet deep gorge at Hathia Baba Ghati under Chouparan police station in this district of Jharkhand today. Police said while four persons died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. The injured had been rushed to the Sadar hospital. Three of the deceased belonged to Chatra district of Jharkhand and one to Patna in Bihar. The bus was on.....
