Goa Health Minister directes inspection of all food outlets

Panaji, Sep 3 (UNI) Goa Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane today directed the officials to frequently inspect all food stalls and hotels in the state to check whether cleanliness, hygienic conditions and quality of food served are maintained.

The Minister gave these directions at a meeting of the Director and other officers of the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, which was convened here today.

The meeting was held in the wake of the reported incident of food poisoning due to consumption of Chicken Shwarmah at a food outlet at Miramar recently.

Mr Rane directed the officials to investigate to cause of food poisoning and details of the people suffering from food poisoning.

He emphasised that special attention should be paid to food joints in the vicinity of schools, colleges and beach areas so as to prevent any such incident due to consumption of harmful food products by students and tourists in the future.

The Minister said the unlicensed food dealers should be firmly dealt with and no unlicensed food outlet should be allowed to operate, and instructed the officials to analyse food samples of such establisments to check the food quality.

Public has been requested not to consume any food exposed to contamination in the food stalls, in unclean and unhygienic hotels.

Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Justice A Panduranga Rao Commission appointed by the Andhra Pradesh Government to go into the police firing in the district in which six persons were killed last month during CPI (M)'s 'Bhooporatam' (land struggle) postponed its inquiry to tomorrow as neither the victims nor the witnesses attended the hearing which started today. Chief Editor among 5 journos sentenced to jail in defamation case

Lucknow, Sep 3 (UNI) A court today awarded jail terms to three journalists and two publisher-printers for publishing a defamatory article and interview. Special Chief Judicial Magistrate (customs) Suresh Chandra passed this order after admitting the complaint of senior IAS officer Anant Kumar Singh, the then district magistrate of Muzaffarnagar.
