Father arrested for torturing children

Balasore, Sep 3 (UNI) A man was arrested from his Gopalpur residence for allegedly killing his son and torturing other children after police received a complaint from his 10-year-old daughter.

Police registered a case and took Maheswar Senapati in custody last night after his daughter Gitarani lodged a complaint. She had suffered injuries all over her body after her father, a blacksmith, assaulted her severely. She also revealed that her father had beaten her brother to death, sold her eldest sister in Cuttack and has engaged another sister in a country liquor outlet.

But her father suppressed the murder case by influencing the police and the doctor and managed to pass off the murder as a suicide, she alleged.

On receiving the complaint, the police sent her for medical examination but the wound marks on the body of the girl were found to be old ones during examination, police said.
