'Fake scribes' held in TN

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 3 (UNI) Police have arrested two persons posing as journalists and attempting to extort rpt extort money from three Village Administrative Officers here yesterday.

Police said Chandramohan and Ranganathan of Perambalur and Erayasamuthiram village respectively had approached the VAOs and demanded Rs 10,000 for not publishing a news item about the bribes received by them.

Based on a complaint from the three VAOs, police arrested the 'fake scribes' and seized a number of fake identity cards of popular journals and periodicals from them. A two-wheeler used by them was also seized.

Later, they were remanded to judicial custody.

Vadodara, Sep 3 (UNI) Twelve people were killed and more than 20 injured when a luxury bus collided head-on with a vehicle near Keshrol village on the Bharuch-Dahej road last night. Police sources said, nine of the deceased, all labourers, were natives of Kanda in Jharkhand and were on their way to Dahej in the ill-fated Tata Sumo in search of work. The victims from Jharkhand included Vinod Gunia and his wife Sarda Devi, and a three-member family of deceased.....

Etihad aims to fly to more Indian cities

New Delhi, Sep 3: Etihad Airways has set its sights on eight cities in India for new air services from its base in Abu Dhabi. Its chief executive James Hogan spent two days here recently meeting Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel and senior government officials to press the airline's view that there is a burgeoning yet unfulfilled demand for flights between India's emerging cities and capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Cholamandalam DBS to raise Rs 200 cr through rights issue

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Cholamandalam DBS Finance Ltd today said it will raise Rs 200 crores through a rights issue of shares at an issue price of Rs 140 each. The rights issue will be in the ratio of three new shares for every eight existing shares held, said a statement. Jammu, Sep 3:Two teenagers, including a girl, were killed in an explosion in a field at Bani in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening, police today said. The deceased identified as Pappu (13) and Champa Rani (16) were playing in the field when the sudden explosion occurred at Baljedi village, police informed. They died on the spot.
