Extension service subsidy Rs 196 per hectare: Official

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Principal Agriculture Secretary Ajeya Kallam today said the government was spending Rs 1,000 a hectare for fertiliser subsidy while for the extension services it was only Rs 196 per hectare.

Inaugurating a workshop on soil health and customised fertilisers organised by the Fertiliser Association of India, here, Mr Kallam said the government would support customised fertilisers if results were good.

The workshop focused on soil health and customising plant nutrition management. The recommendations would be forwarded to the Union Agriculture Ministry for issuing guidelines on manufacturing and marketing of customised fertilisers.

Officials and more than 130 experts participated in the workshop where 11 papers were presented.

Karnataka government release Rs 100 as industrial subsidy

Sirsi, Sep 3 (UNI) Karnataka Small Scale Industries Minister Shivanand Naik today said that Rs 100 crore had been allocated in the current budget to clear long pending subsidy to the SSI and SMEs in the state. Talking to newsmen here today the minister said that government has already sanctioned Rs.75 crore for the purposes. Man tries to commit suicide inside CPI(M) headquarters

Kolkata, Sep 3(UNI) A man tried to commit suicide by immolating himself inside the CPI(M) state committee headquarters here today, creating a flutter in the political circle. Debabrata Choudhury, 42, who made his entry inside the CPI(M) office feigning as a party member and the brother of an MLA, doused himself with kerosene in a bathroom. But when he came out and tried to light up a match stick, security men immediately caught him. Police said the man, hailing from Baruipur.....
