Envoy eager to see India in Twenty20 final

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) South Africa's Consul General in India Busi Kuzwayo today said she was eager to see India in the final of the Upcoming Twenty20 World Championship, beginning in South Africa September 11.

Speaking at a meeting in the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce here, Ms Kuzwayo promised to clear the visas of cricket fans within five days so that they could reach in time for the cricket tournament.

South Africa was also gearing up to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup, she said, adding that her country was keen on collaborating with India in the construction of sports infrastructure, including stadia, for the prestigious event.

N.Korea says US to remove it from terrorism list

SEOUL, Sep 3 (Reuters) North Korea said today the United States had agreed to remove it from its list of countries that support terrorism, a move long sought by Pyongyang to better its status with the outside world. ''The US agreed to take political and economic compensation measures such as deleting our country from the list of terror-supporting nations and fully lifting sanctions imposed under the law on trading with enemy countries,'' its KCNA news agency reported a Foreign Ministry spokesman.....

Sudan's SPLM denounces expulsion of diplomats

KHARTOUM, Sep 3 (Reuters) Sudan's junior coalition government partner today denounced as ''unacceptable'' Sudan's recent expulsion of diplomats and a humanitarian official, saying it had not been consulted. ''What happened is unacceptable to us. We should be consulted and our views taken into consideration,'' said Yassir Arman, deputy secretary general of the former southern rebel group, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM). Syria severely restricts Iraqi refugee influx

DAMASCUS, Sep 3 (Reuters) Syria is taking steps to drastically reduce the flow of Iraqi refugees fleeing into the country to escape the turmoil in Iraq, officials said today. A government decree that takes effect on Sept. 10 bars Iraqi passport holders from entering Syria except for businessmen and academics, a small minority of the 3,000-5,000 refugees who currently cross the border every day.
