Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra to award 100 MCD teachers

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra will award 100 municipal teachers for meritorious service in the field of education on September 5 on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

The teachers will be honoured by the Mayor at a function at Shah Auditorium, Raj Niwas Marg.

Deputy Mayor S S Bajwa, Chairman of the Standing Committee Vijender Gupta, Leader of the House Subhash Arya and Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Jai Kishan Sharma will be special guests at the function, which will also be attended by Municipal Commissioner, Ashok Kumar Nigam.

Chairman of the Education Committee Prithvi Raj Sawhney will preside over the function.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Sawhney said that 100 teachers have been chosen for Municipal Awards out of the total strength of about 18000 teachers. Of the 100 teachers, 20 are headmasters, 72 General teachers, five Nursery teachers, one Physical education teacher, one Music and one Arts teacher.

For selection, factors like teaching skills, results, achievements of their students like scholarship results, competitions, achievements of the teacher, community participation and the personality of the teacher were taken into consideration.

This year, out of the 100 teachers, 66 are women.

Municipal Teacher Award winners are honoured with a cash prize of Rs 5000/- a commendation certificate and a memento.

Mumbai losing international matches due lack of infrastructure

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) Alan Durante, senior advisor to Mahindra and Mahindra, the sponsors of the Mahindra Mumbai football league, today admitted that the city lacks the basic infrastructure to hold international matches and unless that is addressed no top class football club will come to the city. 53rd National Football Championship in Kashmir September 5

Srinagar, Sep 3 (UNI) The 53rd National School Games Football Championship for under-19 will be held here from Wednesday.
