Congress has failed to fight terrorism: Modi

Jamnagar, Gujarat, Sep 3 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today criticised the Congress-led UPA government for its failure to quell terrorism the country.

''Congress government has failed miserably in its attempt to quell terrorism in the country. The spate of terror attacks in the country is on a high, and whenever there is an attack, Congress government remains a silent spectator and talks of evaluation of terrorism,'' Mr Modi said while performing the ritual of 'Bhumi Pujan' of the tomb of martyrs of historical Bhucharmori battle of 1592, in which soldiers, led by warrior Jamsattaji, laid their lives while fighting the Mughal army to protect refugees. ''The Central government, which shows its reluctance in passing the act of Prevention of Terrorism Act, does not allow the Gujarat government to pass Gujarat Control of Organised Crime - the law to fight terrorism. However, against all this odds, our government is determined to fight against terrorism. No terrorist wanting to shed blood on the soil of Gujarat would be spared alive,'' he said.

At the function, Mr Modi released the Gujarati book 'Chingari', authored by Dr J M Jadeja, which chronicles the history of the Bhucharmori battle.

Among those present at the function included prince of erstwhile state of Rajkot Mandhatasingh, queen of erstwhile state of Morbi Vijaykunwarba, king of erstwhile state of Shirohi Raghuvir Jadeja, king of erstwhile state of Vankaner Digvijaysingh Jadeja and priest of Bhuvneshweripeeth of Gondal Ghanshyamji Maharaj.
