Chinese delegation meets LG

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) A Chinese delegation comprising representatives of a Municipal Committee today met Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna here.

Secretary of Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPC and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, Wang Yang along with other members of the delegation are on a visit to the country, China's Ambassador to India Mr Sun Yuxi also accompanied them.

While recalling the historical socio-cultural and fraternal ties between the two countries during, both sides acknowledged that closer ties between Indian and China would play an important role in enhancing global peace during the 21st Century and beyond.

Mr Wang Yang who is on his first visit to India said he was deeply impressed by the tremendous progress made by the country and New Delhi as a city had left an indelible impression on him for its greenery.

He conveyed that the main purpose of the delegation's visit was to promote better understanding and inhance economic and trade ties between the two neighbours.

He expressed the hope that although the visit was short it would help in establishing permanent ties between the industry and trade of Chongging and Delhi. The main areas of interest indicated were manufacturing activities, software and information technology.

The Lt. Governor while thanking the visiting dignitary and the members of the delegation expressed the hope that the visit would lead to more exchange visits in fostering social, cultural and economic ties between the two countries. He said Delhi was keen on sharing Chinese experience and expertise in improving infrastructure, public transport system, housing sector, solid waste management and river rejuvenation.

Mr Yang also invited the LG to lead an Indian delegation to China.

Tight security in Jammu on Janmashtami

Jammu, Sep 3 (UNI) An unprecedented security blanket has been thrown around the City of Temples as people celebrate Krishana Janmashtami here tomorrow. Keeping in view terror threats and a huge rush of devotees to the temples, special security arrangements have been made by police to check untoward incidents during the festival. Forces have been deployed to ensure incident-free Janmashtami celebrations, a senior police official said. Police have been maintaining extra vigil following the killing of top Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Saifullah.....

Security beefed up in TN following intelligence alert

Chennai, Sep 3 (UNI) Security was today beefed up across Tamil Nadu following an alert by the central intelligence agencies about possible terror attacks. The terror alert was received by the State DGP, Chennai City Police Commissioner Nanjil Kumaran told newspersons here. Following the twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad on August 25, police had enhanced security at all important installations. Guj to welcome Sunita Williams as state guest

Gandhinagar, Sep 3 (UNI) The Gujarat government today proposed to welcome astronaut Sunita Williams as a state guest on her forthcoming visit. According to a release, apart from according her the status of a state guest, the government has decided to provide her with adequate security cover during her visit. The State Government has also urged the Gujarat University to hold a felicitation function to honour Ms Williams. UNI.....
