Carrying of fire arms banned in Chandigarh till Nov 3

Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Chandigarh District Magistrate today prohibited carrying of fire arms in the Union Territory till November 3 next.

The decision has been taken as carrying of small weapons openly tucked in the waist belt for show of and intimidation could create panic in the public.

The order has come into force with immediate effect. Breach of the order would be punishable under the provisions of Indian Penal Code.

However, the order will not apply to police or para-military or military personnel and other Government servants if called upon to carry fire arms in connection with their official duties.

Schedule for Pak presidential poll likely on Sep 5

Islamabad, Sept 3: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is likely to announce the schedule for presidential election after its meeting on Wednesday. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Qazi Muhammad Farooq will chair the meeting. The Constitutional experts of the presidential lobby wanted the election to be held between September 15 and October 15. Tata Motors' sale declines 0.4% in August

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Tata Motors has registered a 0.4 per cent decline in its total sale at 45,144 vehicles including exports in August, compared to 45,325 vehicles over the same period last year. The company's commercial vehicles sales in the domestic market rose 1.6 per cent to 23,431 units from 23,069 units a year earlier, while sales of cars and utility vehicles fell 5 per cent to 16,620 units. Exports in August rose eight per cent to 5,093 vehicles.....

Peeved over non-promotion, Maj Gen stages protest at Army HQs

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) In the first-ever incident of its kind, a Major General, who retired from service after not getting promoted to Lt General, today came to his old office at the Army Hqs and refused to budge from it.
