British military says completes Basra palace pullout

BAGHDAD, Sep 3 (Reuters) The British military said it completed its withdrawal from the southern Iraqi city of Basra today, relocating forces from a palace in the city centre to a base at the airport on the oil hub's outskirts.

''All British forces moved early this morning from the Basra palace base to the airport, as part of the process to hand over the palaces to Iraqi control. There were no clashes or attacks on British forces during the operation,'' the British military said in a statement.

Blue River Capital acquires 10.22 pc stake in Rane Holdings

Chennai, Sep 3 (UNI) Mumbai-based private equity investment firm Blue River Capital has acquired through a secondary market transaction 10.22 per cent stake in Rane Holdings Limited. A representative of Blue River Capital is expected to join the Board of Rane Holdings shortly, a company release said here today. As announced earlier, the Rane Group was undertaking a restructuring exercise to consolidate the shareholding in all the group companies through the holding company Rane Holdings Limited, which could be the vehicle.....

South-west monsoon turns vigorous over Southern parts of K'taka

Bangalore, Sep 3 (UNI) Heavy rainfall lashed coastal and hilly areas in Karnataka as monsoon turned vigorous over South Interior and Coastal regions during the last 24 hours. However no substantial loss of property or loss of life was reported from any parts of the state. Meterological Department Director G S Vijayraghavan the said heavy to very heavy rain was likely at a few places over Coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours. Heavy rain also may occur over ghat areas.....
