Bangladesh still to hold Dec elections - official

MOSCOW, Sept 3 (Reuters) Bangladesh remains on course to hold elections by December, the senior foreign policy adviser of the army-backed interim government said today.

''It is the expressed declaration of the head of government and also of the electoral commission that the election will take place within December 2008,'' Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdury said after a meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Goa Health Minister directes inspection of all food outlets

Panaji, Sep 3 (UNI) Goa Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane today directed the officials to frequently inspect all food stalls and hotels in the state to check whether cleanliness, hygienic conditions and quality of food served are maintained. The Minister gave these directions at a meeting of the Director and other officers of the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, which was convened here today. Two children among five killed in mishap

Jammu, Sep 3 (UNI) At least five persons, including two children, were killed in two separate incidents here today. Four persons died on the spot when the car in which they were travelling skidded off and fell into the canal at Purkho, 15 km from here, police said. On receiving the information, police swung into action and fished out all the bodies from the cannal.
