Andaman administration suspends recruitment drive

Port Blair, Sep 3 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has suspended its controversial recruitment process of ''Work Charge Beldera'' and ''Work Charge Khalasia'' following a large number of complaints and media reports.

The suspension orders were released at the directive of Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Bhopinder Singh.

Chief Engineer of Andaman PWD N Ravi here today said, '' The recruitment process has been suspended till further orders.'' Hundreds of unemployed youths had held demonstrations in front of the Andaman PWD head office in Port Blair demanding repeal of the recruitment drive for nearly 1,300 posts.

A renewed recruitment drive might be held as thousands of candidates who wrote the trade test were not happy with the selection procedure, official sources said.
