All women temple opens gates for male devotees on Janmashtami

Phagwara, Sept 3 (UNI) A unique temple here, ''managed by women exclusively for women,'' today opened its gates for male devotees on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

The ''Shri Sindooran Devi Temple'', where men are otherwise debarred, saw a long queue of male devotees thronging to pay obeisance since early this morning.

The temple was tastefully decorated by women volunteers, who were also involved in the rituals, making and distribution of prasad and managing the crowds to ensure that all the functions related to the Krishna Janam (birth) passed off peacefully.

During a large congregation on the occasion, religious speakers exhorted devotees to respect women and elders and celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna by adopting his philosophy of ''Nishkam Karma'' (duty without expectation of result).

CPI(M) to organise conference over Sachar committee recommendations

Bhopal, Sep 3 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh CPI(M) is organising a one-day state-level conference on September 8 over their demand regarding implementation of recommendations of the Sachar Committee. ''The conference would be inaugurated by CPI(M) MP Mohammed Salim. RSS takes stock of political situation

MPCC demands PM to waive of loans of small farmers

Mumbai, Sep 3 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Prabha Rau today said the party has demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh waive loans of small farmers up to an amount of Rs 30,000. Talking to reporters, Ms Rau said the waiving of interest by banks had not benefitted the farmers. It was unfortunate that the country had to import wheat, she added and urged the PM to take appropriate action on the issue. Ms Rau and other MPCC office.....
