23 people killed in road accidents in AP

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) As many as 23 people including a police official were killed and 19 injured in five separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh today.

Police said eight people, including four women and three children, were killed and eight injured when the lorry in which they were travelling, overturned near Ulindakonda village in Kurnool district.

The empty bottle-laden lorry, proceeding from Done to Hyderabad, skidded on the road at a curve and overturned. Showering the passengers on it with bottles.

In the second accident, seven people were killed and another six seriously injured when a van in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a lorry near Jeedipally village in Medak district. The van was on its way to Basara from Hyderabad.

While four people died on the spot, three others succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. All the victims belonged to Jambagh area here.

In another road accident, six labourers were killed and four others injured when the lorry in which they were travelling, overturned near Kottalankapalli village in Khammam district.

The driver of the cement-laden lorry lost control of the vehicle, which hit an electric pole and overturned. The lorry was proceeding to Vishakhapatnam from Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district.

A police Sub-Inspector (SI) was run over and killed by a lorry when he tried to stop it at Nampally area early today.

Young girl commits suicide

Jalandhar, Sept 3 (UNI) A young girl today committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Kazi Mandi here, police said. Police said that Rekha allegedly committed suicide as she was reportedly feeling humiliated when a woman called Rosy of the same locality had allegedly beaten her over some issue. A case under section 306 of IPC was lodged against Rosy, who was at large, police said. UNI.....
