4 killed as car hits lorry

Thanjavur,Tamil Nadu, Sep 2 (UNI) Four persons, including two women, were killed and nine injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Vaduvur, near here, this evening.

Police said the victims were proceeding from Mannargudi to Tiruchirapalli after attending a marriage when the mishap occurred.

The injured were rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Ranavikar ,Biniwale, Bodas claim a grand double each

Pune, Sept 2 (UNI) Shubhankar Ranavikar, Martand Biniwale and Ashlesha Bodas recorded a grand double each in the district ranking table tennis championship which concluded at the sprawling Sharada Sports Centre here today. Biniwale and Bodas who had earlier claimed a double each in the Le Meridien championship a fotrnight ago, kept up their winning ways and were the toast of the final days proceeedings. Binwale bagged the Youth Boys and men's titles while Bodas also won the corresponding Youth.....

Blair arrives in Kuwait for West Asia peace tour

Kuwait, Sept 3: Tony Blair arrived in Kuwait today at the start of a two-week tour of the West Asia to push ahead with efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict festering at the heart of the region for 60 years.Blair will take the findings of his visit his second to the region as West Asia envoy for the international Quartet to the group's next meeting in New York on September 23. Sudan in talks on return of expelled CARE envoy

KHARTOUM, Sep 2 (Reuters) Sudan is in talks with US-based aid agency CARE on the possible return of its country director, who was expelled on August 27, a Sudanese official said TOday. Khartoum's decision to expel Paul Barker prompted criticism from the United Nations, which said it undermined an agreement on facilitating humanitarian activities in Darfur. Barker was given 72 hours to leave the country after Sudanese officials said he had exceeded his humanitarian mandate and meddled in Sudan's internal security......
