4 killed as car hits lorry

Thanjavur,Tamil Nadu, Sep 2 (UNI) Four persons, including two women, were killed and nine injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Vaduvur, near here, this evening.

Police said the victims were proceeding from Mannargudi to Tiruchirapalli after attending a marriage when the mishap occurred.

The injured were rushed to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Varanasi, Sep 2 (UNI) A man who was heavily beaten by his wife on August 28 last succumbed to wounds in the Cholapur area here today. Magan Patel (36) was beaten by his wife Arti in the Bhatpurwa village on August 28 last after he denied her permission to go to her brother's house on Raksha Bandhan, police said. KHARTOUM, Sep 2 (Reuters) Sudan is in talks with US-based aid agency CARE on the possible return of its country director, who was expelled on August 27, a Sudanese official said TOday.
