Two day Gaganachukki festival to begin at Shivasamudra on Aug 25

Bangalore, Aug 21 (UNI) A two day 'Gaganachukki Falls Festival' highlighting tourism aspects of surroundings of Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts, will be held from August 25.

Briefing newsmen here Transport Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy said the tourists number was increasing daily at the Gaganachukki falls following heavy inflow due to heavy rains recently. Basic infrastructural facilities such as drinking water, hotel accommodation and other facilities were being created by spending Rs five crore, he added.

He said A ropeway would be constructed between Gaganachukki and Barachukki falls to facilitate tourists to view both falls within a distance of two kilometres. Cultural programmes, enlisting participation by noted artistes including Shimoga Subbanna, Appagere Thimmaraju and dancers, would be held as part of the festival, he added.

11 Sabarimala pilgrims killed as bus falls into gorge in Kerala

Kottayam (Kerala), Feb 17 (ANI): Eleven Sabarimala pilgrims were killed and 40 others injured when a bus fell into a gorge near Erumeli town in Kerala's Kottayam District in the wee hours on Tuesday.The victims were on their way to the Sabarimala hill shrine when the bus carrying 60 pilgrims slipped into a 50-foot gorge while it was passing the narrow Pampa Valley road.All victims are hailing from Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari District.The injured are undergoing treatment.....
