''The House is aggrieved over these remarks by a servant of the Republic,'' Mr Singh said after the house was assembled after being adjourned thrice in the day over nuclear deal and Mr Sen's remarks.

''The House has to express its discontent over remarks made by a representative of India,'' the former External Affairs and Defence Minister said.

Mr Singh said if a civil servant openly condemns the proceedings of the house ''it is a sad day for Indian democracy''.
