Police arrests nine thieves,one scrap dealer in Andaman

Port Blair, Aug 21 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar police today arrested a gang of nine thieves and a scrap dealer for stealing copper plates and LT cables from a godown of South Andaman villages.

''The hunt for nabbing culprits was launched by the Pahargaon police on the basis of a complaint received from a private godown owner,'' said Ashok Chand, the Superintendent of Police of Andaman District.

''Altogether nine workers were interrogated and it was revealed that on different occasions they had stolen copper plates and LT cables worth Rs 2 lakhs and have disposed of the stolen materials to a scrap dealer of Pahargaon, South Andaman,'' official sources informed the media.

Beijing, Mar 16: A bus crash in southwestern China has killed 14 people and injured 12, state media today reported.A minibus carrying 26 people in Yunnan province overturned yesterday night and fell into a bamboo-covered valley, Xinhua news agency said, citing local police.Rescuers said 10 of the 26 passengers died immediately and four died in hospital.Yesterday morning, 22 people were killed when a bus veered off a highway and plunged into a reservoir in China's northwestern Shaanxi province.Nearly 99,000 people were.....
