Karat demands recall of Ronen Sen

Hyderabad, Aug 21: Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat today demanded the recall of Indian Ambassador to the US, Ronen Sen, for his reported remarks about the opponents of the nuclear deal.

Strongly condemning Mr Sen's reported remark describing all those opposing the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal as 'headless chicken,' he told mediapersons here, ''Mr Sen is behaving as an Ambassador of US President George W Bush and not that of India.''

"The Government should immediately call back the Ambassador," he maintained.

'No differences among Left parties on N-deal'

Vadodara, Aug 26: CPI national council secretary Shameem Faizee today said all the four Left parties were united on their stand against the ''anti-national'' Indo-US nuclear deal and asserted they would withdraw support to the UPA government at the Centre if it went ahead with India-specific International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) negotiations at its Vienna summit on September 19. Airing the strong view of the Left, Mr Faizee told reporters here that there was no difference of opinion among the four left.....

Kolkata, Aug 26: With a month deadline ahead, the Left parties will withdraw their outside support if the UPA government pushes through the Indo-US nuke deal ignoring the voice of dissend, CPI(M) politburo member M K Pandhe said here today. ''We shall withdraw support to the government if it proceeds further with the deal. Our party will review the government's stand and take a decision at it's next politburo meeting on September 27-28 and the subsequent central committee meeting from September 29.....

Sen must withdraw remarks against scribes: DUJ

New Delhi, Aug 23: The Delhi Union of Journalists today called upon the Indian Ambassador in the US Ronen Sen to withdraw his statement attacking journalists as 'running headless chickens'. ''Please don't make our journalists scapegoats to bail you out of your statement attacking politicians, which itself was smacking of intolerance,''DUJ president S K Pande said in a strongly worded statement.
