J&K to encourge public private partnership in development projects

Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government is contemplating to encourage Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode of investment to be adopted in infrastructure development projects in the state.

During the 11th five year plan, government is taking necessary initiatives on the PPP mode of investment for creating infrastructure development corporation Ltd, Minister of State for Planning Prem Sagar Azaz told legislative council here today.

He said that departments like Power, Tourism, Health and Medical Education, Higher and Technical Education have already been identified to be covered under the said mode.

Mr Prem Sagar Azaz replying to a question by Devender Singh Rana of National Conference said Power Development Department (PDD) has been offering Micro Hydel Projects to independent power producers for generation of power.

Similarly, Health Department is also negotiating with corporate house reputed hospital chains for establishment of super specialty hospitals under PPP, while tourism Department is negotiating constriction of Ropeways and Cable Car Projects under PPP, he said.

Broad agreement reached on Iran bans: US, Russia

United Nations, Mar 15:  The United States and Russia said that major powers had reached a broad agreement on sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program and were submitting a text to their governments for approval.The goal is to distribute a draft resolution to the 10 rotating members of the 15-nation UN Security Council today, who could vote on it next week.''We have an agreement in principle based on some additional changes that were introduced and presented.....
