Hooda seeks international airport at Bahadurgarh

Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today urged the Union government to sanction an international airport at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district.

He was speaking at the 30th meeting of National Capital Region Planning Board at New Delhi today.

Mr Hooda said the aviation sector had witnessed phenomenal growth in the last few years. In spite of the upgradation of present Indira Gandhi International Airport, it would fall far short of the future requirements of the NCR.

There is a definite need to have an additional airport in the vicinity of Delhi, he said.

He said the state government had submitted a proposal for an airport at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district which would have excellent connectivity with Delhi and other areas of NCR through the KMP Expressway.

He urged the Board to impress upon the Ministry of Civil Aviation for early sanctioning of this project.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for strengthening the road infrastructure in NCR Sub Region of Haryana as it would be helpful and it would prove a vital importance for economic development and growth of other sectors also.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
