Kishanganj, Aug 21 (UNI) Four couriers were arrested and contraband foreign goods worth Rs two lakh seized by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawans from Kolkata-bound Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri(NJP) Super Fast Express yesterday.
Official sources said here today that on a tip-off, RPF personnel, headed by Inspector S K Prasad, swooped down on the super-fast, stopped it at Kishanganj railway platform and got the SLR bogie detached.
Later, they broke open the bogie and seized the contraband goods worth Rs two lakh, sources added.
Four couriers were arrested and taken into custody, sources stated.
The bi-weekly Sealdah-NJP superfast express leaves NJP railway junction at around 8 AM and does not halt at Kishanganj.
But surprisingly the contraband goods were loaded in the SLR bogies at Rangapani station, which has no official stoppage, sources informed.
