New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI)The flood situation in Bihar and UP continued to be grim with death toll going up to 552 in the rain-battered areas of both the states.
While 331 deaths took place in Bihar, 221 deaths were reported from UP.
An official communique released in Bihar said that more than 1.76 crore people were affected by flood in 214 blocks of 19 districts damaging standing crops worth Rs 548 crores in the state.
''Six thousand five hundred and twenty boats had been pressed into service to carry out rescue and relief operation, while 1,243 relief centres and 478 medical camps were opened in flood ravaged areas of the state,'' it said.
In UP, Rivers, including Ganga, Ramganga.... picking up from para two, line one of DI 53 WEATHER ROUNDUP.
