Flood rescue and relief operation on war footing : Modi

Samastipur, Aug 21 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said rescue and relief operations in the flood affected areas were being carried out on a war footing.

Addressing a review meeting on relief operation, Mr Modi said every flood affected family would be given 100 kg foodgrain.

Instructions had also been issued to the District Magistrates to ensure proper supply of fodder, he added.

An ex gratia of Rs 1.5 lakhs would be paid to the next of kin of those killed in the flood, he said adding the DMs of the affected districts had been directed to prepare the list of casualties.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
