BJP anticipates smooth power transfer as per schedule

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh BJP today declined to take into cognizance any statement by a person, other than Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in the Janata Dal (Secular) on the issue of transfer of power to the BJP on the completion of the coalition government's 20 months in office and said it expected no problems about being handed over power.

State BJP President K Sadananda Gowda, when asked about the statement made by a JD (S) minister before a hidden camera that Mr Kumaraswamy would continue to be in his seat beyond October, said as far as the BJP is concerned, it anticipated no problem about the smooth transfer power as per the schedule.

Asked if the BJP would have any other leader other than Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to accomodate concerns expressed by the JD (S), Mr Gowda said BJP national President Rajnath Singh had told the National Executive, in clear terms, that he (Mr Yediyurappa) will be the Chief Ministerial candidate during the BJP's turn to head the coalition for the last lap of current tenure of the state assembly. ''Mr Singh's announcement made before the Executive, the highest body is final and the party would not go back on it'', he said.

Mr Gowda led a delegation of ministers, MPs and legislators from three coastal districts to highlight the problems faced by the people of the area to several Union Ministers. Those who were in the delegation included State Ministers Dr V S Acharya and B Nagaraja Shetty, and senior BJP MP Manorama Madhwaraj.
