'Nothing wrong in comments on power transfer'

Gulbarga, Aug 19: BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda today justified repeated comments and statements of state party leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on transfer of power from the JD(S) to the BJP in the state. Addressing the press here, Mr Gowda said the BJP leaders were only expressing confidence over the smooth transfer of power.

''Except that there is nothing behind it.'' Ruling out the possibility of a 'mid-term' poll to the State Assembly, he said even if it happened, the party was ready to face it.

Mr Gowda, who was here to launch the BJP's 'every booth' campaign, said the campaign was only to strengthen party at the grassroots level and remain in touch with the people.

Pooh-poohing Leader of the Opposition N Dharam Singh's comments that the Congres would form government in the state once again, he said it was time for him (Mr Singh) to retire.
