MLA Dev Fund paced up development works in HP

Shimla, Aug 12 (UNI) The MLA area development fund scheme was playing a vital role in accelerating the pace of development in Himachal Pradesh.

Under the scheme, the State Government is providing Rs 25 lakh annually to each MLA in each constituency for carrying out developmental works.

In Una district, a sum of Rs 6.90 crore were sanctioned for 1270 developmental works under MLA area development Fund for its five Assembly constituencies from 2003-04 till now. Since then, 790 development works worth Rs 5 crore have been completed and work on remaining 480 was in progress on which over Rs 2.90 crore were being spent in the district.

Developmental works at a total cost of Rs 1.50 crore were sanctioned under MLA fund during 2006-07 in the district, out of which 39 had been completed and work on 177 was in progress. Rs 70.60 lakh for 126 developmental works have been released under the MLA fund during current financial year and work on these are in progress.

Last year, Rs 16 lakh were provided for 16 Community Centres and Rs 5.75 lakh for construction of seven-link path in Santokhgarh Assembly Constituency under the fund.

Besides, fund for construction of Serain, Community Centre and toilets were also provided for the constituency.

Similarly, in Chintpurni Assembly Constituency, 31 motorable road at a cost of Rs 14.95 lakh were being constructed and work on many roads are in final stage.

Besides, Rs 3.98 lakh were provided for construction of community centres and Rs 25,000 for small irrigation scheme in Gujjar Basti from MLA fund.

Many link roads are also being constructed for the villages in the constituency. The funds for construction of community centres, link roads and lift drinking water released under the scheme in Una and Kutlehar Assembly constituency.

The proper utilisation of the fund with the involvement of the local legislator has ensured that the fruits of development reached the grassroots level.
