Koda lambasts NDA for making "false promises"

Daltonganj, Aug 12 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today charged the erstwhile NDA governments of making false promises and misguiding the people.

Addresssing a gathering at Mohammadganj area of Palamu district, Mr Koda said the erstwhile NDA governments made promises regarding the state's development and welfare of people but none of them were fulfilled.

Terming the present UPA-backed government as an alternative, Mr Koda said his government would put all its effort for the proper development of state.

After online inauguration of a sub-station at Hariharganj area, Mr Koda said providing electricity to rural areas was the priority of government and the project would be completed by 2009.

Mr Koda also assured to reopen the closed unit of Japla cement factory located in the district.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a bridge built on Amanat river in Manatu and laid the foundation stone of Daltonganj-Panki main road costing about Rs 50 crores.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
