Juvenile sent to observation home, hacked 45-yr-old to death

Rourkela, Aug 12 (UNI) Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board S K Hota today sent a 12-year-old boy, accused of murder, to an observation home here.

Earlier in the day, the police had produced the accused before the magistrate on the charge of hacking a 45-year-old man to death on the night of August 9.

Police said the accused, who was from Bankamundatola village under Kabalang police station, was playing in the rain when the victim, Birsa Munda, scolded him and asked him not to do so.

The boy, however, responded by using filthy language for which Munda slapped the juvenile, police said.

Hurt by the act of Munda, the juvenile decided to take revenge and attacked him with an axe while he was sitting on his veranda.

Munda succumbed to the injuries on the spot.
