CFMG meeting held at Kohima

Kohima, Aug 12 (UNI) A Cease-Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG) meeting between Central and Nagaland government representatives along with NSCN-IM militants was held here.

Official sources here today said yesterday's meeting was attended by Lt Gen (Retd) R V Kulkarni, CFMG chairman Maj Gen K S Dethi, Inspector General of the Assam Rifles, DIG (Ops) of the CRPF, state DGP J Changkija, state Additional Chief Secretary T N Mannen, state Home Commissioner Sentiyanger, while the NSCN-IM team was led by Brig Phungthing Shimrang.

Sources said it was a routine meet to review the implementation of the Cease-Fire Ground Rules.

The meeting also discussed people's desire for peace in the state and the initiative of the Joint Forum of the Gaon Burah (GB) Association and Dobhashis (DB) Union, which declared a cease fire among all the underground factions in Nagaland.

Pygmies of Western Central Africa share recent common ancestors

Washington, Feb 6 (ANI): In a new study, scientists have found that despite their great cultural, physical, and genetic diversity, pygmies of Western Central Africa diverged from a single ancestral population just about 2,800 years ago.The new study is the first to reconstruct the history of the numerous forest-dwelling pygmy populations, who make their livings as hunter-gatherers, and their immediate sedentary, agriculturalist neighbors, according to the researchers."The common origin of all pygmy populations from Western Central Africa is.....
