Australia, China in final of Beijing hockey tournament

Beijing, Aug 12 (UNI) Pakistan missed a golden opportunity to play the final of the four-nation Good Luck Beijing hockey tournament, after they were held 1-1 by Malaysia here.

In the other match, Australia beat China 6-1 but the hosts will play the Kookaburras in the final again.

Pakistan drew all its matches to collect three points while China had four points from one win, one draw and one loss. The Chinese had beaten Malaysia 2-1.

The final and third-place matches are scheduled for tomorrow in the tournament held to test the event for the 2008 Olympic Games here.

Pakistan took the lead in the third minute when full back Kashif Ali converted the second penalty corner. Malaysia equalised through captain Jiwa Mohan who converted a penalty stroke in the 49th minute.

In the women's final also, Australia clash with China tomorrow.

This despite Australia defeating China 3-0 in the last preliminary league action in the four-nation field.

In the other match, Argentina blanked South Africa 6-0.
