Talking to newspersons here today, Commissioner of State Horticulture Department K Madhusudhana Rao said the department would organise the 10th Nursery Mela from August 11 to 15.
He said 1,050 nurseries were engaged in production of plant material with an annual turnover of Rs 375 crore. Nursery in the Kadiyam village in East Godavari district, with a turnover of Rs 150 crore, was famous for production of ornamental plant as well as fruit plants. Plants produced in the village had good presence in West Bengal and Rajasthan nurseries.
He said 90 exclusive nurseries in the Railway Kodur and Simhadripuram in Kadapa district were supplying sweet oranges to Tamil Nadu, Maharastra, and Karnataka, besides meeting the needs of the state.
