Mumbai: Anti-nuclear peace march on Aug 6

Mumbai, Aug 4: As many as 2,000 National Social Service (NSS) volunteers from 60 colleges of SNDT and Mumbai University, along with Gandhian workers, peace activists, lawyers and civil liberty groups will participate in the Anti-Nuclear Peace March in the city on August 6.

The peace march, organised by Bombay Sarvodya Mandal and Hindustani Prachar Sabha, the NSS arm of the SNDT (Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey) College and Mumbai University, will be taken out to commemorate Hiroshima Day, which falls on August 6.

The day is observed in memory of those, who were killed in the American bombing on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 during the Second World War.

A 20-year-old initiative of the Bombay Sarvodya Mandal, which also promotes Gandhian philosophy of non-violence, the march is organised with a view to joining hands with the people of the world for a nuclear-free world and to create social awareness among students about the holocaust of nuclear armaments.

The march will commence from Azad Maidan and will conclude at Hutatma Chowk. All the participants will also take a pledge to work for peace and a nuclear-weapon-Free World.

'India sought only 3 suspects, not 20'

Islamabad, Dec 5: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's Adviser on Interior Affairs, Rehman Malik, has that India has only sought 3 terrorist suspects and not 20 as has been reported by the media.He also said that the list submitted by the Indian Government does not include the name of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the head of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, which is being accused of masterminding last week's Mumbai terror attacks  that claimed nearly 200 lives and caused injuries to nearly.....
