VHP warns nation-wide agitation for Ram Setu

Allahabad, Aug 3 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad President Ashok Singhal today warned of nation-wide agitation if the Central Government demolished the Ram Setu for the Sethu Samudram Canal project.

Talking to mediapersons in a joint press conference with Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanandji here Mr Singhal said Ram Setu is the heritage of India and destruction of it would hurt the sentiments of many.

Apprising about the strategies of VHP, Vasudevanandji said in July VHP had conducted a 'Dharm Sansad' at Delhi where it resolved to mobilise a strong public agitation under the aegis of the Rameshwaram Ram Setu Raksha Manch, which would start from August 12.

The project could be completed without even breaking the Ram Setu but the present government is adamant on damaging the treasure of the nation, they added.

Mr Singhal alleged that the Central Government along with United States is conspiring against the nation's treasure.
