UBI to open 11 more ATMs

Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Union Bank of India (UBI) proposes to set up 11 more ATM centres across the city.

Of the proposed 11 counters, eight would be opened in and around Chennai city within a couple of days, while three ATMs would be in railway peripherals at Chennai Central Railway Station, Puducherry and Kancheepuram, according to a press release here today.

In addition, the bank was having cash tree arrangements with ten leading banks in its network to ensure more services to its customers.

The bank also initiated steps to popularise the 'readykits' by issuing debit cards to all existing customers. The bank was also planning to popularise mobile top up, air ticketing and railway ticketing through its ATMs,the release added.

Two clerics of Barelvi sect killed in mishap near Chandrapur

Nagpur, Aug 3 (UNI) Two clerics of the Barelvi sect were killed in a mishap in Chandrapur district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today. According to the police, the clerics, identified as Tahesin Khan Raza (80) and Zahir Khan Raza (65), were killed when the car they were travelling in went out of control and took a tumble near Warora in the district. Congress consitutes standing committee ahead of assembly polls

Shillong, Aug 3 (UNI) Preparing for the upcoming assembly in four Northeastern states, the Congress party today constituted a standing committee to look into issues concerning respective states in the region. Metro Mono Rail system in major cities of Punjab soon: Sukhbir

Jalandhar, Aug 3 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) acting president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that Metro or Mono Rail system would be introduced in the major cities of Punjab soon. Addressing mediapersons here this evening, Mr Badal said that RITES, a Government of India enterprise for major projects, had been entrusted the task of conducting survey in major cities for running Metro or Mono Rail system for the convinience of the public.
