Two people electrocuted

Rohtak, Aug 3 (UNI) Two people, a man and a woman, died due to electrocution at Matan village in Jhajjar district yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Krishan, a resident of Matan, and Mathoora, hailing from Bihar and working as a labourer at Matan.

According to reports, Krishan was going for a morning walk when he slipped and came in touch with an electric pole. As Krishan screamed for help, Mathoora rushed from her house and tried to pull him away from the electric pole. But both of them were electrocuted and reportedly died on the spot.

Compensation of Rs 70 lakh paid till Aug. 2 for culled birds

New Delhi, Aug 3 (UNI) A compensation of more than Rs 70 lakh has been paid to the owners of poultry farms till yesterday where culling took place for containing avian influenza in North and Eastern parts of Manipur. Mopping up operations were carried out yesterday also and 27 teams were deployed for operations. The total number of birds culled so far has reached 3,31,606, number of eggs destroyed 28,103 and feed destroyed, 25,242 kg......

PRL plans to increase its chain of hypermarket stores
