Two killed of snake bite

Panipat, Aug 3 (UNI) Two people, including a 7- year old boy, died of snake bite at Puthar village in this district last night.

The deceased were identified as Dhani Chand ( 33) and his son Vikram of Hawasa village in Darbhanga District of Bihar. Their bodies were brought to local civil hospital here for postmortem today.

Dhani Chand, who was working on contract basis on a farm land, was residing alongwith his family in a tubewell room in the fields. He and his son were sleeping on a cot in the fields, using a mosquito-net for protection when a snake entered into the net and bit them.

Both of them were found dead in the morning with the snake inside the net. The dead bodies were taken to the civil hospital after the snake was killed.

Nominations open for Dhumakot Assemby byelection

Dehradun, Aug 3 (UNI) Filing of nominations for Dhumakot Assembly byelection in Uttarakhand opened today with the returning officer issuing the notification. However, no nominations were filed today. August 10 is the last date of filing nomination. While Chief Minister Maj Gen(Retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri is the candidate of ruling BJP, Congress is yet to declare its candidate. Kafeel's body taken for ascertainig cause of death

London, Aug 3 (UNI) The body of a man believed to be Kafeel Ahmed, the suspected Glasgow bomber, who died at the Royal Glasgow Infirmary last night is now with the Procurator Fiscal. Congress to go alone in next elections in K'taka: Kharge

Bangalore, Aug 3 (UNI) KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge today said that the Congress party would go alone in the next elections in the state and will not form another coalition government with the help of Janata Dal(S).
