Religious guru Brahmananda Shastri passes away

Jamshedpur, Aug 3 (UNI) The founder of Yug Vashistha Sangha and famous yoga guru Sri Brahmananda Shastri passed away here last night.

Sri Shastri was 79 and is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.

Shri Shastri experienced chest pain at around mid-night and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital here. He breathed his last in the Intensive Care Unit, family sources said.

Apart from establishing Sangha, which has several branches across India, the yoga guru also set up an eye hospital and a Heart Care Unit at Tamulia in neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Sri Shastri had thousands of followers throughout the country.

His mortal remains would be consigned to flames here tomorrow, the sources said.

Soil Fertility mapping to be ready by 2008

Kolkata, Aug 3(UNI) National Bureau of Soil Science&Land Use Planning has started soil fertility mapping in order to identify barren land across the country. Speaking to mediapersons here today, West Bengal Agriculture Minister Naren Dey said the study was being conducted in association with Bengal based agri university Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya. PRL to expand chain of hypermarket stores

Udupi, Aug 3 (UNI) Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited (PRL), a part of the 'Future Group', is embarking on an ambitious plans to increase its chain of hypermarket stores -Big Bazaars from 63 to 100 across the country, including about 35 stores in South India by the end of 2008. BSNL, Rajasthan targets business worth Rs 2,500 crore

Jaipur, Aug 3 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Rajasthan did business worth Rs1,900 crore in the last fiscal and targets to increase its business to Rs2,500 crore in the current fiscal. BSNL, Rajasthan General Managar Mohanlal Khumber said, BSNL customer base has increased to 40 lakh in the state, of which, 21 lakhs were of the mobile services and rest constitute the basic telecom services.
